The effective use of digital technologies for learning and teaching

In this lecture, Professor Laurillard examined the role technology can play in helping to meet the challenges facing universities and the contributions they offer to help teachers and learner in developing higher education. She discussed the design challenges for course and lesson planning that technology enhanced learning presents and how academics can be supported to realize the benefits for their students.

Workshops (exclusively for PolyU staff)
Pedagogic Design for Active Learning

In this workshop participants were shown how to use new technologies to achieve PolyU's goal of employing more student-centred pedagogies to enhance independent learning abilities. Participants were encouraged to broaden their approaches to learning design, match learning technologies to forms of learning and to use learning technologies in a time effective manner.

Modelling Teacher and Learner Productivity

Productivity for teachers and learners is an important but challenging aim. In this workshop participants addressed the complex issues involved in productively incorporating a blended approach to learning and had the opportunity to plan and model the use of staff and student time to achieve quality improvements.
